This Privacy Policy explains what information Gourmi ("the app," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. By using Gourmi, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and password (or, if you sign in with Google, GitHub, or Apple, basic profile information from that provider). You also get a unique Chef ID and can choose a preset chef avatar.
Content you create. This includes the ingredients you add to your fridge/pantry, recipes you save to your cookbook, posts, comments, likes, and saves in the Kitchen Stories community.
Recipe imports. If you import a recipe from a social link (e.g. TikTok), we fetch the public metadata for that specific URL to help build the recipe entry.
Subscription information. If you subscribe to Gourmi Premium, Apple processes your payment. We receive your subscription status (active, trial, expired) but never see your card details.
We do not access your camera, photo library, or device contacts, and we do not collect location data.
How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account and personal cookbook.
- To generate AI-powered recipe suggestions and nutrition estimates based on the ingredients and recipes you provide.
- To operate the Kitchen Stories community (showing your posts, comments, likes, and saves to other users).
- To process your subscription and manage your free trial.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
Third parties we work with
Gourmi relies on a small number of service providers to operate:
- InsForge — our backend provider, which stores your account, fridge, cookbook, and community data.
- OpenAI — processes the ingredients and recipe text you submit to generate AI recipe suggestions and nutrition estimates. This text is sent to OpenAI's API solely to produce your results.
- Apple — handles sign-in (Sign in with Apple) and all in-app purchases/subscriptions.
- Google / GitHub — if you choose to sign in using one of these providers.
- TikTok — only when you explicitly import a recipe from a TikTok link, to retrieve that video's public metadata.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Community content is public
Anything you post to Kitchen Stories — including your name/avatar, recipe posts, and comments — is visible to other Gourmi users. Please don't include information in public posts that you don't want others to see.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at danielma9708@gmail.com.
Children's privacy
Gourmi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and secure authentication, to help protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
